CookieGuard Pro — Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 12, 2026
CookieGuard Pro collects zero user data. No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry. Everything stays on your device.
What This Extension Does
CookieGuard Pro is a browser extension that lets you view, edit, delete, and automatically manage cookies in Google Chrome. It is a local tool — all functionality runs entirely on your device.
What Data the Extension Accesses
To perform its core functions, the extension reads and writes the following data, all of which stays on your device:
- Browser cookies — names, values, domains, paths, expiration dates, and security flags for sites you visit. This is the core of what the extension manages.
- Tab URLs — used only to determine which site's cookies to display and to detect when a tab is closed (for the auto-delete feature).
- Your preferences — settings you configure within the extension, such as your whitelist, auto-delete toggle, and theme choice. These are saved locally using Chrome's built-in storage.
What We Do NOT Do
We do not collect, transmit, or store any data externally. Specifically:
- We do not send any data to any server, API, or third party — ever.
- We do not collect usage analytics or telemetry of any kind.
- We do not track which websites you visit.
- We do not log cookie contents.
- We do not display advertisements.
- We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any form.
- We do not include third-party tracking scripts.
- We do not use remote code — all code is bundled locally within the extension.
Where Your Data Is Stored
All extension data is stored locally on your device using chrome.storage.local, which is Chrome's built-in local storage for extensions. This includes your whitelist, auto-delete preferences, theme setting, and any other configuration.
When you uninstall CookieGuard Pro, Chrome automatically deletes all data stored by the extension.
Permissions and Why We Need Them
- cookies — Required to read, edit, and delete browser cookies. This is the core functionality of the extension.
- tabs — Required to detect when you close a tab, which triggers the auto-delete feature. Also used to identify the current site when you open the extension popup.
- storage — Required to save your preferences (whitelist, auto-delete setting, theme) locally on your device.
- alarms — Required for scheduled cookie cleanup tasks.
- activeTab — Required to determine which website's cookies to display when you open the popup.
- Host permissions (all URLs) — Required because cookie management must work on any website you visit. This is the same permission used by all cookie editor extensions.
Payment Processing
If premium features are offered in the future, payment processing will be handled entirely by Stripe, an industry-standard payment processor. We will never see, store, or have access to your credit card number or payment details. We will only receive a confirmation of whether a license is active.
Open Source
CookieGuard Pro is open source. You can inspect the complete source code to verify every claim in this privacy policy:

Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Any material changes — especially any that would involve data collection — will be clearly communicated through an extension update and noted in the Chrome Web Store listing.
